12,000 people in Madrid support the fight against poverty

Successful start of the demonstrations of the Week against Poverty
The demonstration against poverty, organized by the Spanish Alliance Against Poverty meeting in Madrid has more than 12,000 people. Civil society organizations, trade unions and representatives of social groups gave the green light to the demonstrations held throughout Spain during the weekend.
Eduardo Sanchez, President of the Coalition of NGOs for Development, one of the member organizations of the Alliance, has recalled that 1020 million people go hungry in the world, a figure never before reached. To Eduardo Sanchez, "the crisis can not be an excuse to end poverty, if they can raise 8 billion dollars to save banks, why can not assemble a hundredth of that figure in the fight against poverty ?
By the end of the event was read a statement that was required, compliance with the commitments made by governments to the Millennium Goals are met in 2015.
The culmination of the mobilization has put the song "The cry of my generation," composed for the occasion by members of the Smile of Julia, the Canto del Loco, and the Sleep of Morpheus, and Poliposeídas group performance.
